Slow logins with Windows XP

Logins into domain with XP workstations could take up to 3 1/2 minutes.
Madatory proflies were created using Windows 2000. It seems the graphical differences that XP use were incompatable with windows 2000 proflies.
Following Microsoft artical Q307800 I created a sample user and placed him in a OU that had the ability to change his user settings. I set up the profile to resemble the win2k desktop as much as possible using all classic views and icons. This is important because we have win2k termanl servers that have the win2k look. Once I have the profile customized to my satisfaction I logged out and logged in as an administrator and copied the profile to the server were profiles are saved. I then moved my sample user to the correct OU and set his profile path to point to the new profile. I tested the profile by logging into XP and Win2k. Both logged in in less than 10 seconds.
